Why Learning Permaculture Is a Smart Choice
In an increasingly uncertain world, more people are turning to permaculture—and here’s why...
1. Sustainable Living
Permaculture teaches you how to live in harmony with nature by designing systems that are energy-efficient, low-waste, and self-sustaining. Whether you live in a city or the countryside, these principles can help you reduce your ecological footprint while meeting your own needs.
2. Food Security
With rising food costs and supply chain uncertainties, being able to grow your own food is a powerful skill. Permaculture helps you design gardens and edible landscapes that produce abundant, diverse, and nutritious food year-round, even in small spaces like balconies or rooftops.
3. Environmental Regeneration
Unlike conventional farming or landscaping, permaculture actively improves the environment. Through soil-building, composting, water harvesting, and planting native species, you can help restore ecosystems, support wildlife, and combat climate change—starting right in your backyard.
4. Low-Cost, Practical Solutions
Permaculture often uses what's already available—local materials, recycled items, and simple techniques. That makes it a budget-friendly way to improve your home, garden, or community space, while saving money on groceries, utilities, and maintenance.
5. Community and Resilience Building
Permaculture isn't just about plants and soil—it's about people. It encourages cooperation, shared knowledge, and local resource networks. This fosters stronger communities that are better prepared to adapt to economic shifts, environmental changes, or crises.

How can you start learning about permaculture and actually feel confident putting it into practice?
We are offering more than just a basic introduction to permaculture course—it’s a practical, supportive journey into designing your own sustainable and abundant home and garden. While not a full Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC), it goes beyond a typical intro course.
Led by Aranya, you'll explore key principles of permaculture design and learn how to apply them to your personal space. From green building and energy efficiency to soil health, water conservation and forest gardening, you’ll gain tools to make meaningful changes in your everyday life.
The course uses a mix of group work, discussions, videos, slides, observation and hands-on activities to suit different learning styles and needs. It’s designed to build confidence, not just knowledge—so you leave feeling empowered to take action.
At its core, permaculture is about working with nature to create positive, lasting change. This course is about doing just that—together and with joy.
About the tutor, Aranya
Aranya discovered permaculture in 1996 and has been passionate about it ever since. After earning his Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design in 2003, he began teaching—and quickly made it his main focus. Since then, he has led nearly 80 two-week design courses, sharing practical tools to help others make lasting, positive change.
A long-time member of the Permaculture Association, Aranya has served as a trustee and contributed to various working groups. He’s the author of Permaculture Design: A Step-by-Step Guide, and shares his knowledge through articles, videos and his blog. He's currently working on his second book, exploring natural patterns in permaculture design—a subject close to his heart.
